From Walter's workshop at Chanteduc comes this classic French Jieldé articulated lamp — one of the most ingenious and enduring objects to emerge from postwar French industrial design. Conceived in 1950 by Jean-Louis Domecq in Saint-Priest, near Lyon, the Jieldé was born of practical necessity: Domecq needed a flexible, reliable light source for his own mechanical workshop. He named the company after the French pronunciation of his initials, J-L-D, and the lamp has been made in France ever since. The arms are finished in a muted sage green — worn and patinated with decades of use — while the ball joints and base retain their original chrome, now softened with age. Domecq's signature innovation was to route the electrical contacts through the articulated joints themselves, eliminating visible wiring entirely — a solution as elegant as it is practical. "I just love them," Walter says simply. This needs to be fixed to a bench or shelf with screws. Originally at home in factories, workshops, and architects' offices, the Jieldé later crossed into domestic life when Terence Conran introduced it through the Habitat catalogue. It would be equally at ease in a kitchen, studio, or study, bringing focused light and a piece of genuine French workshop history wherever it lands. This needs to be screw fixed to a bench - no clamp included.

Must be rewired and installed in accordance with local electrical requirements.
