Vintage French Woden Tray with Mesh Lid

A vintage French cheese board with traditional mesh food cover from Chanteduc, Patricia Wells’s farmhouse in Provence. From her personal collection, it was purchased at the renowned market in Vaison-la-Romaine at least twenty years ago, part of Patricia's collection of practical serving pieces she assembled for lively tables indoors and out. “They have a lovely aesthetic,” Patricia comments, a sentiment that reflects her intelligent simplicity in the kitchen and at table. The rectangular bamboo tray shows a warm, honeyed tone with gently raised sides and integrated cut-out handles. The domed black mesh cover, shaped with arched ribs and finished with a woven loop handle, is light and easy to carry. Scaled for a generous selection of fromage (cheese), fresh fruit, pastries, or bread, the fine mesh keeps pests away while allowing air to circulate. Equally at home in the kitchen or for alfresco dining, it brings a relaxed Provençal touch to entertaining.
