This vintage rattan sunburst mirror, probably dating from the 1960s or 1970s, has a round convex mirror plate surrounded by an intricately handworked rattan frame. A thick braided border encircles the glass, while long interlaced loops radiate outward in a regular sunburst pattern, giving the piece a strong sense of movement while keeping the overall effect light and airy. The craftsmanship continues to the reverse, where the rattan is densely woven into a broad circular backing. The weave radiates from the center in carefully worked sections, securely anchoring the open looped frame and giving the back an unusually complete and beautifully finished appearance. There is no fixed hanging hook, allowing the mirror to be hung directly from the rattan frame or fitted with a hook to suit the preferred position.
