Patricia explains, “There was already a fireplace in the dining room, but it was at floor level, so when you sat around the table, you couldn’t see the fire. I got the idea from an Italian design magazine to raise it, and I bought the screen locally. We had to redo the entire fireplace.” The effort was worth it, she recalls, as the hearth became the room’s focal point, admired by winter guests who lingered at the table with Patricia and Walter, warmed by its glow.
