Vintage Murano Amber Glass Caged Pendant Lantern - 21¼"

This vintage Murano caged-glass pendant lantern is made from mouth-blown glass in a soft honey to pale amber tone, with a generous rounded body, smaller domed upper section and lobed lower finial. The glass has a lively, hand-worked surface, with ripples, folds and subtle variations in thickness that give the lantern an organic, almost fluid quality. Some gentle clouding is visible in places, which suits the lantern well and adds to its softly aged character. A decorative metal cage follows the contours of the glass with slender vertical ribs and scrolling motifs around the upper and lower sections. The upper section opens by loosening the small screws to access the bulb; the screws have been replaced to make this easier.

Its artisan-formed silhouette feels both exuberant and soft, with the pale amber glass taking on a warmer glow when illuminated. Suspended in an entryway, above a console or as a single accent in a powder room, it would bring warmth, texture and sculptural character to interiors ranging from bohemian to pared-back contemporary.
