A vintage wooden rolling pin from the students’ kitchen at Chanteduc, Patricia Wells’s Provence home and cooking school. Patricia explains, “It’s been well used, lovely and small. You can hang it on the wall and, of course, you can still use it!”
Turned from solid wood with rounded ball handles, it shows a warm honey tone and a soft satin sheen from years of seasoning. The surface bears honest marks that speak of teaching without compromising function. It carries the spirit of Chanteduc, where teaching, tasting and generous hospitality meet, and reflects Patricia’s intelligent simplicity and exact observation in the kitchen.
Put it to work for tart shells or biscuits, or let it rest above a worktable or on a kitchen wall, where its patina and provenance can be appreciated. And why not try Jean-Luc Poujauran's shortbread cookies, p.274, The Paris Cookbook, by Patricia Wells.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
