Vintage Wrought Iron Guéridon Table from Provence - Round

Picked up at a local brocante and brought back to Chanteduc, Patricia and Walter's farmhouse and cooking school in Vaison-la-Romaine, this vintage wrought iron guéridon has been enjoyed over the decades in the garden, by the pool and in the courtyard.

The table is wrought iron throughout — an oval top set on three slender, elegantly curved legs that bow inward at the waist before splaying outward to small pad feet. Two sets of triangular stretchers brace the legs at mid-height and near the base, giving the whole structure a tensile, almost architectural quality. The metal has aged to a warm, dusty brown, the surface carrying the honest patina of years spent outdoors in the Provençal sun.

At Chanteduc, the guéridon stands at the entrance to the courtyard beside the iconic Provence-green painted shutters and gates, where a pot of seasonal blooms greets arriving guests. It migrates poolside too, paired with garden chairs and ready for a cold drink and something to eat on a warm afternoon. Versatile and entirely at home outdoors, it would work equally well on a terrace, in a conservatory or beside a garden door — anywhere a surface is needed and a little elegance is welcome.
