A *boutis* is a traditional Provençal quilted coverlet, hand-stitched in a technique that dates back centuries in the south of France. Rather than using batting, the maker threads soft cotton cord through channels formed by the stitching, creating a subtly raised, sculptural surface — firm yet supple, with a texture that rewards a closer look. This example is worked entirely in white cotton, its surface animated by flowing, leaf-like quilted motifs that catch the light beautifully, and finished with a classic scalloped border. *Boutis* were traditionally made as part of a Provençal bride's trousseau and passed through families for generations — objects made to last and to be used.
