Yellow glazed terracotta sieve w/ handle

SKU: 18620

US$297
This superb, rare sieve dates from the late nineteenth century and is from Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie. It has a handle and lovely deep perforated bowl, perfect for washing off berries and fruit, or for straining boiled vegetables and pasta. This is similar to chestnut roasting pans, however as it is glazed underneath, we can be certain that it was for rinsing fruit and vegetables. Some wear and losses to glaze. A lovely piece to display with a collection of antique French pottery.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 5½" high w/ handle x 9½" diameter
