A charming French naturalist print titled La Pie de Paradis (The Paradise Magpie), after an original watercolour by the celebrated ornithological artist Jacques Barraband (1767–1809). This is a 20th-century reproduction of his work, faithfully capturing the elegance and detail of the original illustration. Finely printed and delicately coloured, it depicts the exotic bird perched on a gnarled branch, its plumage in vivid teal, luminous yellow, and a long blush-pink tail of striking grace.
The paper has a soft, time-worn warmth, enhanced by light foxing. Framed under glass in a slim black frame with a fine gilt inner slip, its understated elegance complements both traditional and contemporary spaces.
Decorative with a scholarly charm, it suits a library, study, or bedroom, and pairs beautifully with maps, botanical prints, or antique furniture.
A matching print featuring another exotic bird is available separately, allowing the two to form a harmonious pair.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
