A vintage French garden stork, likely dating from the 1960s, molded in concrete and retaining much of its original hand-painted decoration. The bird is captured in an alert, watchful pose, with its head held high and long red beak angled downward, while the bright yellow round eye gives it an especially lively, attentive expression.  Black brushwork loosely describes the folded wings against the off-white body. The original paint is overall well preserved, with scattered wear, small losses, and weathering consistent with age and outdoor exposure, giving the surface an authentic aged character. The slender iron legs are later replacements, as is the rustic wood base.
Concrete birds and animals were familiar features of mid-20th-century French gardens, bringing a playful note to terraces and planted areas. Traditionally associated with good fortune, prosperity, and new life, the stork has particular resonance in Alsace, where it remains a regional emblem.
With its watchful pose and weathered hand-painted finish, this example would sit naturally among pots and greenery on a sheltered terrace, or on a console in a garden room, bringing the playful charm of mid-century French garden decoration.
