This charming Villeroy & Boch cake server dates from the mid-20th century and is decorated in the firm’s Burgenland pattern. Made from white ceramic, it has a broad, gently shaped blade and integrated handle, both embellished with blue transfer-printed pastoral scenes of architecture set among trees. The restrained blue-and-white palette gives the piece a refined, decorative quality while preserving its practical purpose. It is in good vintage condition, with light staining and no visible chips.

Burgenland is one of Villeroy & Boch’s best-known traditional patterns, drawing on the long European tradition of blue-and-white transfer-decorated tableware and romantic landscape imagery.
